Kirstie is a partner in the Private Client group specialising in the resolution of trust and estate disputes both in a UK and international context. Kirstie advises trustees, protectors and beneficiaries in this regard. Kirstie also advises on a range of non-contentious private client issues such as trust creation and administration, the administration of estates, the drafting and preparation of wills and related tax and succession planning.


Executors and Trustees of a high-value (circa £30 million) UK landed estate Advising on claims brought by the widow of the deceased under the 1975 Inheritance Act against a complex and illiquid estate and family trusts
Executors of a £25 million cross-border estate Advising on an estate involving unusual offers of chattels and land in lieu of Inheritance Tax and negotiating with a large heritage body in respect of a part private treaty sale
Beneficiaries of a UK Trust Advising on a trust with a common law perpetuity period where there was a void appointment in breach of the perpetuity rules and no savings provisions.
Professional Trustee Defending a claim brought by a beneficiary for breach of trust following the trustees' decision to wind up the trust.
Trustees of a post-nuptial settlement Advising trustees joined to divorce proceedings with arguments for the security and preservation of the capital of the trust fund.
Beneficiary of an offshore Trust Advising on matters concerning a point of construction and being joined in the application to the Guernsey Court for its determination of that point.
Trustees of substantial offshore Trusts Advising on claims of breach of trust where the validity of certain trust restructuring was challenged. Values are in excess of £200m.
